Hi
After trying to understand for years why the battery of my iPod would last almost nothing, I've found the cause of the problem.
Most people who use this iPod model install Rockbox because of flac support. It's a great new O/S for the ipod but it drains the battery like crazy.
I kept my iPod always connected to power because of that. I only use it with my bedroom amp.
The other day after searching again a fix for this problem on google, I read many people suggesting to reset the iPod to the original Apple O/S. I did so by uninstalling Rockbox O/S completely. The firmware in my IPod is v1.3. Itunes says it is the last one.
No more problems with fast battery drain. Now it last days if I don't use it. Before it would only keep charge for 12h max with no use. Too much disk spinning...
Before I thought badly of this Apple product. Now I'm happy again with it.
I only listen now to WAV files.
I convert flacs first to wavs and use the Rhythmbox linux app to copy the songs to my iPod. (Yes I still don't like to use iTunes).
Hope this 'back to original' fix will help everyone with the same problem.
ps. I changed the battery 3 times and lost hope long ago...

Alzheimer's is called now type 3 diabetes!!!
A large body of evidence now suggests that Alzheimer's is primarily a metabolic disease. Some scientists have gone so far as to rename it: they call it type 3 diabetes.
The link between diet and Alzheimers has been known for a number of years. A Japanese study in 2000 showed that dietary intervention could help people with Alzheimers. The study followed individuals with Alzheimers as well as healthy people and found that those with Alzheimers had a substantially different diet to the healthy sample. Those with Alzheimers disliked yellow and green vegetables and ate more meat.
Those with Alzheimers had a low consumption of fish. An interesting finding (IMO) is that the poor diet was long standing in some cases as long a 44 years and therefore was not a consequence of having Alzheimers. It could be that the cause of Alzheimers is similar to coronary heart disease and other dietary related illnesses.
Alzheimer's could be the most catastrophic impact of junk food
Alzheimer's is really just 'type-3' diabetes, new research shows
